CMA CGM announced new peak season surcharges (PSS) from Asia to East Africa and West Africa trades, effective mid-June, while simultaneously expanding existing PSS programs across Europe and North America destinations. The French carrier is also raising FAK rates from the Indian Subcontinent to Latin America, Europe, and North Africa. The broad-based surcharge wave reflects sustained demand strength across developing-market trade lanes that are often overlooked in headline rate indices. For African importers already grappling with port congestion, the additional surcharges compound supply chain cost pressures at a time when inflation-sensitive consumer markets can least absorb them.
