Ethiopian Cargo flight ET3005 landed at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport at 09:05 on 28 August, opening the first direct freighter link between southwest China and Africa. The Boeing 777F, with 5,000 nautical miles of range and a 107-tonne payload, will run twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays, rising to four weekly later. The first outbound flight carried about 100 tonnes of laptops, power equipment parts and garments, and the route targets 20,000 tonnes of added international freight by 2027.
