From Aug 1 Maersk applied a two-tier Emergency Contingency Surcharge on Oceania-Middle East cargo: $900 per 20' box to Gulf ports but $1,800 to Jeddah, King Abdullah and Jordan - a 100% premium. War-risk insurance has risen from 0.3% to about 0.7% of vessel value.
