DHL Express has embedded computer vision and artificial intelligence into its booking system to automatically generate customs-compliant product descriptions, a move the company says will significantly reduce customs friction and clearance delays. The feature, rolled out across eight markets as of June 4, analyzes product images uploaded by shippers and produces standardized descriptions aligned with Harmonized System (HS) code requirements. DHL said the tool is part of a broader $1.6 billion investment cycle in France and other European markets to digitize and decarbonize express operations through 2027.
