The first cross-sea low-altitude logistics route between Guangxi and Hainan completed its test flight on 24 July 2026, launching the 'Gui-Qiong low-altitude smart logistics corridor' pilot, provincial daily Guangxi Daily reported on 28 July. An FP-98 large fixed-wing drone loaded with high-value Hainan goods lifted off from Xinglong in Wanning at 19:00, crossed the Qiongzhou Strait and landed at Yulin Fumian airport at 21:48, covering 460 kilometres in 2 hours 48 minutes and compressing a journey that takes more than 10 hours by road by nearly 70%, an efficiency gain of 75%. Operator Guangxi Communications Investment Group plans to extend the corridor west to Guizhou and Yunnan and north to the Chengdu-Chongqing region, serving Hainan Free Trade Port flows since island-wide customs closure began on 18 December 2025.
