The Financial Times reported on 29 July 2026 that Gautam Adani, chairman of India's Adani Group, is considering launching a takeover bid for Associated British Ports (ABP), the operator of 21 UK ports handling roughly a quarter of the country's seaborne trade. A completed deal would be Adani's first direct investment in the United Kingdom and one of the largest transactions in global maritime infrastructure this year. ABP is currently owned by a consortium of infrastructure investors including Canada's Borealis and Singapore's GIC.
