Durban port calls blow past 12 days as SAFLA and RFA demand Gateway Terminal recovery plan

South Africa's SAFLA and Road Freight Association are calling for a recovery compact at Durban Gateway Terminal, where independent monitoring puts the average port call at more than 12 days by late August, up from under five in late June. Vessels averaged 80 hours at anchorage and 106 at berth in July; weekly throughput fell 26% after the mid-August Navis N4 cutover and berth calls dropped from 34 in May to 19 in August.
